the warmest winter

You’re probably well aware by now that this has been the warmest winter. I write this as the sun is beating down outside and the temp reads somewhere in the 60s. I will never complain about Spring weather coming early (except that I’m not into this whole climate change situation) but I’m just a little disappointed that I didn’t get a chance to wear these new boots for just a little while longer. I got them from Target for $20. How.

I typically have a tough time with shoes, but I mean.. don’t we all. I have even worse trouble with boots this high; I can never find ones that hit the right spot and also have the right heel and also don’t look like hooker boots. The color of the grey faux suede is probably what did it for me. And I also can never wear boots all the way to my knees because it’s just not flattering. Trust me.

green, black, and rose gold

I really don’t wear enough color. And I don’t know why! It’s not like I don’t have it; my closet is plentiful with different colors and patterns, but when it comes to actually getting dressed I just seem to always reach for neutrals. Perhaps it’s laziness, a desire to blend in easily, or both. Whatever it is, I’m going to try to bring more color into my life – through my wardrobe and through my artwork. I decided to play around with this color palette because while it’s seasonally festive, it’s not screaming ho ho ho.

blue suede shoes

I’ve got plenty of neutral colored boots and shoes for winter (or any season), but what I really want is a great pair of blue suede shoes. I have one pair of blue suede flats that I’ve worn into the ground yet still every time I wear them I receive a compliment. It’s not the compliments I seek – it’s the wonderful punctuation mark it adds to any outfit, making me feel all the more pulled together. In a season of cozy knits and leggings, anything that will add easy elegance is definitely much needed.

i heart austin: style

Austin street style | tide & bloomMy girls make me so proud! Not even out of high school and already so chic and stylish, even on a casual road trip. What are these kids drinkin’ nowadays?! I have no idea where they got any parts of these outfits from, but I just wanted to share how beautiful these girls are. I wish I could be around them more often! Maybe then I’d have more style posts.

sweater weather

I recently realized that every outfit post I’ve done on this blog has been in a dress or skirt, probably due to the summer heat! But now there’s a chill in the air and I’m more excited than ever to wear scarves, tights, leggings, and boots. My most recent purchase is this amazingly soft infinity scarf from Anthro. Here’s my first shot at an outfit. Can you believe me, in leather shorts?

props to style bloggers

MEHR. Here I go again, trying to act like I’m comfortable throwing my visage out into the interwebz. I finally caved and bought some basic color crop tops to wear for the rest of summer and here was my attempt at mastering the art of the color block outfit.

Willingly putting pictures out like this makes me feel so incredibly vain. It’s really weird and I hope you don’t think that I think that I’m super amazing or comfortable dressing like this every day. The thought running through my head over and over again was “do they think I’m trying to hard,” knowing full well that I DID indeed try hard. Props to all you style bloggers out there who post your outfits every day, every other day, or even once a week. I do not know how you manage looking so cool, well-curated, and yet unpretentious. Someday I will be able to join your league of awesomeness.
